Ottawa is home to two Universities that run Rugby Programmes: Carleton University Ravens and University of Ottawa Gee-Gees. Each has enjoyed tremendous success in recent years higlighted by the a Bronze medal performance by the Carleton Ravens Men in 2003, and the Gee-Gees Women’s programme earning a trip to the National Championships in 2001.
Carleton also runs a women’s rugby program, and the Gee-Gees mens’ programme has been re-established and competes in the Eastern Ontario Rugby Union fall league, along side the Ravens’ 2nd XV.
