High School Rugby Athlete of the Week

Every week during the school rugby season three rugby players (junior boys, senior boys and girls) will win a Rugby Athlete of the Week t-shirt and two tickets to the final of the Canada Cup. Play well, play hard and get recognised.

How to Nominate a Player for High School Player of the Week

  • Nominations have to be made by the team coach.
  • Nominations can be made at any time, during the High School season.
  • Nominations should be made in recognition of a player who has made an outstanding contribution to a particular game or through the season, who has demonstrated great ability on the field. They could be the most improved player, have shown great teamwork or demonstrated fine sportsmanship.
  • Every week, during the regular High School rugby season, three rugby players (junior boys, senior boys and girls) will win the award.
  • Nominations for each week will close at 5pm on Fridays.
  • Athletes can be nominated multiple times, for different reasons, but can only win once.
  • The award will be a Rugby Athlete of the Week t-shirt and two tickets to the final of the Canada Cup.
  • Rugby Ottawa reserves the right to announce the names of the winners to the media and to post their pictures to the Rugby Ottawa web site as well as post them to the media.
  • Rugby Ottawa will organise a ceremony before the final of the Canada Cup to recognize the players and may organise individual presentation ceremonies for each player in their High Schools, depending on available resources.
  • It is the coach’s responsibility to ensure that the nominated player approves of their nomination.
  • Rugby Ottawa will use its best endeavours to independently and fairly select a winner for each category each week, within seven days of the nominations.
  • To nominate a player send an email to playeroftheweek@rugbyottawa.com giving:
    • The player’s name, age and gender
    • The name of the High School, the team, and the level of the team (junior boys, senior boys, girls)
    • The name and contact details for the coach (telephone number and email)
    • The reason why the player is being selected (in as much detail as possible)
    • Photographs (if available)
